Does baby powder really help a loose car engine belt from slipping?
A belt is slipping in my 96 Toyota Tercel and I'm waiting to get it replaced when I can afford it.Will baby powder help it from not slipping?
it does for traction. but, if its really old its probably dried out. and depending where you live that could be bad. winter and dry climates in addition to the baby powder will dry it out even more. it could just snap on you in the middle of a highway. not good.
but, if your in a real humid area it wont do that. it should be attended to as soon as possible.
just try to tighten it. drop the alternator. that should work!!
belts arnt that expensive but you could find one even cheaper at a junk yard. tercels are always there. not that is a bad car. its just common. but, think about how much its gonna cost if it breaks down at the mst unconvieant of moments. missed work? late for school? stood up date? towing?
Can baking powder be used as a substitute for baby powder?
I got a temporary airbrush tattoo and the instructions were to powder it before showering/sleeping. They said to use baby powder but would baking powder do the same, or like, arm & hammer powder? Its not for baking, just for keeping the tattoo longer.

If you sweat, the sodium in the baking powder will burn and you'll be rubbing in no time. Calcium acid sulfate might not help matters any either. In a pinch, cornstarch would be the better bet.
As for showering, drug stores have these plastic cast protectors that would work better than the cornstarch. It's what my son used when he got his marvelous tattoo.
