Base Tan
is getting a base tan at a tanning salon really that bad of an idea?
I plan on going on a vacation in a few months and would really like a tan now so I don't have to spend the whole time applying sunblock every couple hours or being under an umbrella.
And I hear that burning in the sun is even worse than tanning beds.
I don't plan on going after my month membership is up, just for a 30 days every few days.
Its a highly debated subject.
Some people say getting a base tan reduces the effects of the sun, including sunburn and protecting against UVA and UVB rays, and that going out completely white will be more damaging, as your skin is copping the full blow of the sun.
Where as others say, that it doesn't block UVA and UVB rays and therefore is still as dangerous.
My personally theory is this. Your suppose to get darker, thats what your skin is designed to do, but since all of the pollution the sun has become a lot stronger than it was. Therefore, do this. Go out and buy some SPF15 SUN TAN OIL. It will block rays, but will let you tan, you will tan enough to reduce burn, but still have protection.
How can I get a base tan?
I have been fake tanning about twice a week now for the last 2 months with a good bronzer and for some reason I am getting color everywhere but my legs. I shave first and use moisurizer and bronzer but they stay pasty white. HELP

Besides when your really pale it takes a longgg time.
It's best to just lay outside on a really hot day like 20 c - 30c for 6 or so hours...using a good tanner! it will be faster. And not as harmful as tanning beds...maybe not even...but your legs will get tanned faster

I always get a huge kick out of issues like this.
