Leaving bunny at home for a few days?

We will have a big family trip coming up where we'll have to leave our rabbit at home for about a day and a half. We'd leave Thursday morning, be back Friday night.

He usually gets fed twice a day, gets to run around out of his cage for an hour or two a day, and gets a good deal of attention during the day as well. He's a very Lovey Bunny.

Just want to make sure he'll be okay when we're gone and won't be too lonely. We unfortunately don't have anyone who can check on him. Obviously, we'll make sure he's got plenty of food. Any other suggestions on how to make sure he'll be ok?

If it's just the one day it should be fine. Just make sure to leave plenty of hay out. Offer a bit more water as well, if you usually leave one bottle, try leaving another dish inside of the cage if he doesn't tend to tip them, or try to find another bottle if you can. While it will usually be okay to leave the one bottle, you never know what might happen, it's best to be prepared in case. Make sure to find some toys your rabbit hasn't played with recently, or add in a new cardboard box he can destroy while you're away.

Consider what your rabbit normally eats in two days and at the very least, make sure he has more hay than what he would normally have. He'll probably pig out on pellets if you leave too many, so try to leave the one day's amount for him that you normally split into two feedings. Try not to leave too many vegetables, just what he could eat in the one day, if they spoil it can be harmful to your rabbit as they have even more sensitive stomachs than we do when it comes to spoiled greens.

about 2-3 weeks ago the tow bunnies we got our children were like killing each other with biting and growling etc. now they are all lovey dovey but one of them is huge!!! didnt know if they were male or female and really dont care if they breed but how do i know? and if she is preg shouldnt she be mean to the male or even us???

Then, if they are opposite sex, separate them immediately and give the female a proper nestbox. If you allow them to remain together, the male will re-breed her at the time of the birth, or she can carry two litters of different ages at once. Back-to-back litters are hard on her body and also bad for the babies, since the first litter won't be weaned when the second is born. And, you SHOULD care if they breed. Rabbits are the third most surrendered animal to shelters and rescues. They are overpopulated and over half are re-homed or set 'free' to die in the wild within a year since they are not what people expect them to be as pets. It is extremely difficult to find rabbits ANY home, let alone a good home, unless you're willing to see them used for snake food or meat. Like other pets, rabbits should only be bred by responsible individuals aiming to better the breed who have educated themselves on potential complications. Pet rabbits should be altered (spay/neuter). Not only does it make them friendlier pets that are easier to train and more pleasant to live with, but with females it will double their potential average lifespan since 85% of female pet rabbits will develop reproductive cancers by the age of 5.
