What can I use to back some lightweight fabric I am making a pillow with?
I am making a special pillow with clothing scraps. Some of the materials are very thin and I feel I should back (line) the fabric with some other material to strengthen it but don't want it to be too bulky. What is a good choice?
Lightweight fusible interfacing. Fusible means you attach it to your fabric by ironing the two together. Simple put the shiny side of the itnerfacing on the wrong side of the fabric and apply a hot iron for about 15-20 seconds, holding the iron in place (no ironing back and forth). On small pieces, It's easier if you apply the interfacing before you cut the pieces out.
The interfacing also will help knits keep their shape if You Are using any stretchy knit fabrics in your pillow.
