Im wondering about my infant growing his first tooth.?

My 4 months old baby boy, wakes up sometimes cranky, also hes become a drool monster since 3 mths he runs through shirts and bibs like crazy. Also he seems like he is chewing gum but its him playing with his gum as if they itch him. He has found his hands and puts them in his mouth and bites hard. Im wondering if its possible he will be growing them soon. Or when is the earliest. And what not.

The average baby get his first tooth at around six months,but this is quite variable. One baby may get his first tooth at 3 months, another baby not until 18 months. Also,most babies start to drool at around 3 to 4 months when their salivary glands becomes more active, so parents sometimes think that drooling always indicates that teething has started.
If your child had a hard time getting to sleep, wakes up sometimes cranky, chew things, frets, and drools, he may be teething. Rubber teething rings of various shapes are good or piece of apple in a square of cloth. Let him chew what he wants as long as it's not dangerous, because many babies love to have their gums firmly rubbed at times when they are teething. Usually the first two teeth toappear are the lower central incissors (lower front teeth).

Possible refulx symptoms in infant, or could it be allergy to milk?

Our 2 month old has been having some issues. Lately when we feed him he has been spitting up a considerable amount. Enough to soak a bib. Sometimes it shoots across the room. He does this at almost every feeding. He also has been very fussy (more than usual) and doesn't seem to be able to stay asleep for very long. When he is sleeping sometimes it seems as if he's uncomfortable, moving a lot. He's gaining weight just fine, no other concerns. We haven't changed anything but it seems as if he's developed some sort of problem all of the sudden. I made an appointment with his doctor, but was wondering if these symptoms are familiar to anyone out there. I just want to know an idea of what may be wrong with him. I don't want him to have to go through a ton of trial and error, I just want him to be ok.

My daughter has a severe milk allergy, and is also allergic to beef and other things we haven't been quite able to pinpoint yet. She was exclusively breastfed for 5 months, and any dairy or beef at all in my diet caused projectile vomiting, tons of painful gas, and constant fussiness. She also had a stuffy nose (not runny, and no fever) most of the time, coughed frequently, and go the hiccups many times per day. Like your son, she was otherwise healthy and gained weight fine. Her sleep was absolutely horrible, though. It was reasonable for the first two months, any anyway you expect a newborn to wake up a lot. But by the time she was 4 months old and the time frame for colic was well past, she was waking up screaming every 20-40 minutes all night long, and for all naps. Eliminating dairy and beef from my diet helped somewhat with the vomiting, but it didn't help with the sleep or other symptoms at all. She was put on Zantac for possible reflux, and it made no difference. I eventually tried eliminating all of the top 10 allergens from my diet while breastfeeding, and it still didn't help. She wasn't on solids yet.

We finally saw an allergist and a GI specialist, who put her on Neocate, an amino acid formula with no milk products in it whatsoever. It's about a hypoallergenic as you can get (and VERY expensive!). She improved immediately and has been fine ever since. Allergy tests were all negative, but false negatives are common for infants. So we still don't know exactly which foods (aside from cow's milk and beef) she's allergic to, but it was obviously a food-related problem because she's totally fine on Neocate. When she was 7 months old we briefly tried to switch to Alimentum (a supposedly hypoallergenic formula, but one that is milk-based) and she still couldn't handle it at all. Oh, and she also turned out to be allergic to the latex nipples we were using. Switching to silicone immediately solved that problem.

I totally support your wish to avoid figuring this out by trial and error. I kept trying to figure it out on my own, and it didn't work. We saw our pediatrician many, many times about the vomiting and sleep problems, and she couldn't figure it out either. It really took the specialists to sort out the problem. If your doctor can't help at first, keep asking until they figure it out or send you to a specialist. Our first 5 months would have been so much more enjoyable if our baby hadn't been in such discomfort! For the longest time, we kept hearing that it was probably reflux, but it wasn't. The medication never helped, even when they kept increasing the dosage.
