that thing that you hang frm the ceiling above the crib you crank it and it plays music and puts the baby asleep. . . the name of it. the right* name for it.
A "mobile".
Why doesn't baby sleep in her crib?
Caycie is 7 weeks old. From day 1, she would not sleep in her crib. The only way she will get a few hours of sleep at night is sleeping with me, with my hand on her or sleeping on my tummy. During the day, she will nap only if she is around us but not in her room . We tried leaving music or light on but nothing will work.
Why is Caycie doing this, and most importantly, what to do to change the pattern?
From the time my son was born he would not sleep in his crib. I believe he just felt it was much too big and open and made him feel insecure. The only way he would sleep at night was in a bassinet, which was much smaller. We also kept him right beside the bed so we were very close to him and just as he could hear us, we could hear him. Some babies also like to be swaddled, which helps them sleep longer, but my son hated to be swaddled. During the day he would only sleep in his swing or if I hold him. Although he has grown and now sleeps in his crib (at 8 months) he still hates to nap during the day and only will in his swing. Also, at night my son cannot sleep unless the room is completely dark. He wakes up if any light gets in whatsoever. Maybe try to keep the room nice and dark, too.
