Why do some cars have their engines sealed with a cover plate on the underside of the car?
Like a plate on the underside of the car that is mostly seen on Rally cars.
- Is this to protect the engine?
- Is it for aerodynamics?
- Would a regular hatch (such as mitsubishi colt 1999 S reg) benefit from one?
this is for many things, if you have an oil leak it catches the oil, it protects the underside of the engine from speedbumps large stones etc, it also helps slightly to stop water from spraying into the engine bay when its raining, if you can get one for your car it wont do any harm, it can only do good.
Is there any good ideas for fastening a cover plate on a car transmition?
