how to sew a satin blanket trim?
I'm making a baby blanket for a friend, and I just can't get the corners, any ideas?
Since mitered corners are a bit more difficult, I'd like to suggest a method that many quilts are bound with. Measure the blanket lengthwise right down the center--do the same widthwise, again at the center of the blanket. You'll need to cut two strips of your satin binding the length of your longest measurement and stitch along the edges with that measurement(usually that will be your top-to-bottom measurement.) Now measure the width of your satin binding and double it. Add this figure to your previous measurement of the width of the blanket. For example: Blanket width 36 in. plus the width of the satin binding doubled(let's say the binding is 3 inches so double that = 6 inches)would add up to 42 inches. Cut two more strips of 42 inches each and sew them across the remaining two sides. Turn all bindings to the back of the blanket and hand stitch in place. Sorry this is so long-winded but hope it helps.
