Do I have to play my Alto Sax directly in front of me?
As the second newest person to enter my band's woodwind section (from percussion), I seem to have found myself in the habit of slinging my Alto Saxophone over my right knee. My band director, however, finds this incorrect. He claims that saxophones in the 30's and 40's were made to played like that, but newer models are made to be played directly in front of oneself, as this allows the entire instrument to vibrate. I was wondering if this is necessary. Thanks.

Sling wearers/breastfeeders?
I have slings, a front pack carrier, wraps and a snugli (when she was very small) - and at almost a year old, I have still not perfected nursing her comfortably in any of these carriers. 
Did you ever manage to successfully nurse your baby/toddler in a carrier (any type)?
Comfortably, I mean.
Oh no no - not to cover myself, I'll happily take the carrier off and sit down and nurse my daughter wherever in public.
It would be handy to know how to nurse on the go though - especially around the house.
I tried in my Maya wrap many times but it was easier just to loosen her a bit to put her in position and hold her. I could never get the hang of the hands free nursing thing - I'd rather hold her anyway. I found that if she was fully supported by the sling that she was too covered up and she won't eat covered up.
