Can you buy a usable replica of the Elmo puppet they use in Sesame Street?
Where can you buy them?
No, you can't. The closest you could get is a 'poseable' toy (Master Replicas, as I recall, may still sell them, although the official seller recently changed companies). Alternatively, you can always buy an FAO Schwartz 'Whatnot' puppet - made by the Henson company, it's customisable like a build-a-bear. It's not Elmo, but it's as close as you can get to a real muppet.
PLEASE DO NOT BUY RIP OFFS. If you like the puppets so much, please support your favourite artists by buying only official merchandise, as advertised on sites like Muppet Central.com. (It doesn't matter whether you want it for decoration or performance, it's still illegal. Those who sell unofficial replicas can and have gotten sued for it. The pro puppet industry is furious at such people)
