Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe with gown underneath?
My baby is a month old and does not usually sleep very restfully. She grunts and whimpers occasionally and her arms and legs go all over the place, and I jump up at every noise to go check on her. Thought I'd try out this "SwaddleMe" thing and it's really easy and she seems to like it, I swaddle her normally with just a lightweight thermal blanket. My only question is do y'all think it would be too hot to layer it over a cotton gown? Btw the swaddler is that microfleece material. If it helps I live in North Alabama and it's about 51 degrees out tonight, we keep the heat on but not very high. I won't have any blankets or anything on her either.
Well, i don't know. It sounds like what you put on her already is pretty hot. You really don't want to overheat her. That microfleece material keeps you really warm. I'd just use that.
My 6 week old does not sleep unless he is swaddled or held by his mommy?
I have to use the SwaddleMe® or hold him in order for him to sleep. I have the microfleece one and being it's hot outside, I have to stop using it. Any advice or ideas?
my son would ONLY fall asleep swaddled until seriously almost 5 MONTHS old.. we ran into the same problem.. the hospital gave us a fleece swaddler.. it was already hot out.. we wanted something cotton instead..
i searched for a cotton one and found this www.halosleep.com
it worked perfectly.. it lets their feet stay in the sack and just swaddles down the arms so that the Moro Reflex doesnt make them jump enough to wake up..
we stopped swaddling once he figured out how to get his arms out of the swaddle.. which was around the same time he figured out he would rather sleep on his stomach (theres NO stopping that if they figure out they are more comfortable on their stomach..) so obviously i ddint want him on his stomach without the use of his arms.. so we stopped it cold turkey.. and he was totally fine (after 2 nights of a little bit of up and down..)
that reflex supposedly goes away after 3-4 months i think?? so it will be easier to not use a swaddle after that.. but the second they can roll over.. get him out of the swaddle asap..
we now have a 10 month old who sleeps 13 hours straight a night (and has been since he was 2 1/2 months old..)
