What is a small simple project that I can do a piece or some pieces of 1/4 yard cotton fabric?
What can I make with 1/4 yard pieces of cotton fabric? It should be simple, I'm a busy mom. thanks!
Place mats and small trivets/potholder are a good use of small fabric pieces. Shoe and gift bags with drawstrings can be made with small pieces of fabric. Decorative pillows are good, we all like to take naps! Piece them together and make a Tote Bag or shopping bag. Pencil cases can be made for school kids. Piece all the small length together and make a large length of fabric. take two lengths of this, add a bit of batting in the center. cut some of the pieces into strips and make a long strip to bind the edges. Use this for a comforter, Don't worry about quilting it, thread a bit of cheap yarn into a large needle, do a Single back stitch leaving long ends and knot the long ends. Do this all over the comforter. Voilà, a basic tied quilt. The same pieces can be used as appliqués on jeans, skirts, book bags, cut simple shapes and sew them down. You probably have some coloring books, trace pictures from those and use those as the appliqué patterns. Use them to cover cork boards and hang them up for family message bulletin boards. Make dolls and doll clothes. Sort them by colour and use the same colour groups to make larger pillows, again sewing them into larger pieces of fabric. Make a patchwork or panelled skirt. Each panel can be a different fabric. make small craft aprons for the kids so they can draw and paint and not get paint on their clothes. Add pockets to these aprons with contrast colour fabric.
I'm sure i can come up with more, that's just off the top of my head in a few minutes.
