Are lava lamp light bulbs going to be banned from the US light efficiency standards?
I know the law has exception for specialty bulbs, so do lava lamp bulbs count?
I doubt you'll have anything to worry about. Regular incandescent bulbs will be with us for a very long time. There will always be exceptions, such as the interior light in an oven for example, where a compact fluorescent just won't work. There's also millions of antique lamps, appliances and other devices (like lava lamps) that were designed specifically for regular light bulbs. CF lamps won't work in them, so your lava lamp is safe....at least, for the foreseeable future.
find the probability that a lamp will last less than 3000hrs, the mean is 3750 hrs & standard dev of 300 hrs?
I can only assume You Are using a normal distribution. 3000 is 2.5 standard deviations below the mean, so find the z score for negative 2.5, or the space from negative infinity to negative 2.5. Its less than 1 percent, i can tell you that.
