Can I wash my wool pea coat?
It is 65% polyester and 35% wool. I need to shrink it a little bit and also wash it. Is this even possible?
It will shrink significantly. Follow the care instructions. If it says you can launder it, go ahead and do so. If you just need it to shrink a little I think laundering it is a really bad idea. If you must wash it, let it hang to dry.
Can I hand wash wool slacks?
Yes, the label says dry clean only. But can I hand-wash them in cold water instead? Is it just heat that affects wool or will all water do horrible things to it?
You can hand wash them with Woolite. I would not machine dry them. Lay them flat to dry. The problem with this is that they may not be as soft as before and they may lose some of their shape and flat nap.
